Another set of interesting characters and another new location。 Rhys Bowen books are easy to read with likable characters, descriptions of beautiful scenery, simple story lines with some humor thrown in。 I’m enjoying the series having started at the beginning。

A quirky heroine (34 in line to the monarchy) is in the midst of attempting to solve the murders of others in the royal line。 Lots of humor and information about life as a royal in the early 1930s。 Details on Wallis Simpson and Prince David (the Duke of York--the heir)。 In addition we have interaction with Princess Lillibet (Queen Elizabeth) and Margaret。 A delightful series。

Predictable and fun, and full of information about the history of the royal family that I didn’t know I was interested in。 I was going to read all of this series but there are too many - and are not really in the same class as Dick Francis and MC Beaton, and on this side of the Atlantic, Victoria Thompson。 Not a total waste of time。

Cynthia

Great entry for Georgie!

Maura

Silly at times and rather improbable in parts, it’s still a fun book - good escape reading for light entertainment。

。。。more

Despite how much I love these books I’ve been spacing them out because I never want to run out of them。 I need Netflix to make a series ASAP。 It would be The Crown + cozy mystery show + the attitude of Northanger Abbey。 This one’s set in summer and perfect to read right now。

It has been a good many years since I read the last book in this series。 To my surprise, getting back into Georgiana Rannoch's world was as difficult as putting on a favorite pair of slippers。 The characters Rhys Bowen has created for this series - and there's a lot of them - last on the memory。 Within a few pages, I was back in step with Georgiana and her world。The lead character is, of course, the star。 I admire the way Bowen writes Georgie。 Georgie does not judge the time in which she's livin It has been a good many years since I read the last book in this series。 To my surprise, getting back into Georgiana Rannoch's world was as difficult as putting on a favorite pair of slippers。 The characters Rhys Bowen has created for this series - and there's a lot of them - last on the memory。 Within a few pages, I was back in step with Georgiana and her world。The lead character is, of course, the star。 I admire the way Bowen writes Georgie。 Georgie does not judge the time in which she's living (the 1930s) by today's standards。 Some writers do that and it works to the detriment of their characters, because they seem less genuine for the time period in which their stories are set and the stories become more "author's soapbox" than "character's slice of life"。 That's not to say that Georgie doesn't push the boundaries that the society of her day put on women, but the character's inner voice gives the reader an honest glimpse of what a young woman in her position understood her options to be。 I find that interesting, made more so by the fact that Georgie is resourceful and easy to root for。The particular charm of this series is not only Georgie, but its deft mix of mystery, romance and humor。 It isn't easy to serve equal and appropriate helpings of those three dishes, but Bowen does it quite well。 I'm not going to wait so long to visit Georgie again! 。。。more

A combination of a cozy mystery and a bit of satire of the royals。 Georgie returns to her family home in Scotland and encounters many of the same characters she often sees in London: her savior Darcy, her trusted friend Belinda, and her reliable Grandad, the former policeman。 As the near misses accumulate, Georgie once again finds herself confronting the villain and barely escaping with her life。

Das Cover gefällt mir wieder sehr gut und der Schreibstil ist wie immer fließend。 Ein Roman mit viel Gefühl und Spannung, wo die Liebe von Georgie und Darcy auf eine harte Probe gestellt wird。 Auf jeden Fall kann man wieder selber Detektiv spielen und herausfinden wer es war, es bleibt bis zum Schluss spannend。 Ein Roman für jeden Cosy Crime Fans und Krimi-Liebhaber。ady Georgie and the Royal Family in PerilIn the summer of 1932, the young Lady Georgiana ("Georgie" to family and friends) is thirty-fourth in line to the British throne。 As the younger sister of the Duke of Rannoch (aka Binky), Georgie is also quite impoverished and has not yielded to efforts to marry her off to undesirable men of appropriate rank。Lady Georgiana is having a hard time in London。 Thanks to the summer heat, she can hardly find any takers for her housecleaning service。 But she thinks her friend Belinda has just given her a windfall - a dinner escort for out-of-town men。 But advertising as an escort service proves disastrous, and Georgie is urged to return to Scotland to avoid a royal scandal。To her surprise, Georgie is welcomed to Castle Rannoch with open arms。 Her sister-in-law, Fig, is driven mad by a house full of demanding Americans。 As Her Majesty has requested a place for them, Fig cannot ask them to leave。 So she enlists Georgie's help to evict them。But the more pressing problem is the accidents that keep happening to the royal family。 It looks like someone is trying to kill the heirs to the throne。 Worse, it might even be someone from the upper class。 Georgie sets out to find out who it is before things turn deadly。 Can she do it?I really like the cover again and the writing style is flowing as always。 A novel with lots of emotion and suspense where Georgie and Darcy's love is put to the test。 In any case, you can play detective again and find out who did it, it stays exciting until the end。 A novel for every cosy crime fan and crime fiction lover。 。。。more

I’ve really taken to this series。 I’m intrigued by the narrator and am wondering if she’s actually American - there’s a hint of difficulty pronouncing the name ‘Graham’, and a definite Americanisation of ‘buoy’。 I know the author is American, and I imagine that’s why we get ‘airplane’, but all of that I can overlook for the sheer refreshing joy of a narrator who can pronounce ‘Rannoch’ and ‘loch’ correctly!
